The Simple Triage and Rapid Treatment (START) system was jointly developed in the 1970s by Hoag Memorial Hospital and the Newport Beach Fire Department of Newport Beach, CA. It is widely adopted and well-known as a quick and efficient method for a single rescuer to triage a group of trauma patients. Click here for a demonstration video of START in action.
There are no formal prerequisites. Students should be emergency responders familiar with the environment where triage may be needed.
