Early defibrillation is swiftly becoming a common life-saving intervention with strong, documented success when coupled with CPR. This three-hour course is designed to meet the needs of the general public, first responders, and professionals who have access and authority to operate an automated external defibrillator (AED). This training satisfies the requirements for rescuers who will operate an AED under NJ's Targeted Responder Defibrillation Act (public access defibrillation law). This course is NOT sufficient for EMTs who need initial or renewal training on AED use. This course does NOT authorize AED operation in a rescue situation--it provides the training to students who will be otherwise authorized to do so. Topics include:
There are no formal prerequisites. Students should come prepared to practice all skills on a training manikin, which can be strenuous when done correctly. The American Heart Association expects that students adequately demonstrate all skills to their guidelines in order to complete the course.

Participants must have access to the current (Guidelines 2010) Heartsaver CPR AED Student Workbook (AHA publication 90-1044) before and during the course.
Sessions are offered 6:00-9:30 p.m. on:
