The NJDOH-OEMS allows EMTs to use this professional-level CPR certification for 2 elective CEUs toward recertification. The EMT must keep track of this credit as it is not automatically registered in their learming management system (LMS) record.
This course adheres to the 2010 AHA Guidelines for Emergency Cardiovascular Care and is designed to meet the needs of healthcare professionals who respond to cardiac and respiratory emergencies. It teaches:
Students must be physically able to perform all skills on a training manikin, which can be strenuous when done correctly. The American Heart Association requires that students adequately demonstrate all skills to their guidelines in order to complete the course.
Participants must have access to the current (Guidelines 2010) BLS for Healthcare Providers Student Manual (AHA publication 90-1038) before and during the course.
All classes are a single session that runs 6:00-10:30 p.m.
