Disaster Life Support (BDLS)
Credit
AMA provides 7.5 CME’s for Physicians; 8
contact hours for nurses, EMT’s and paramedics. This course
has
been approved for EMT credit by the NJ Department of Health and Senior
Services Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS). Credit
for
NJ ALS
personnel is determined by the clinical coordinator of your sponsoring
MICU.
Description
BDLS
is a review of the all hazards topics which is a collection of various
man made and natural events that have the capacity to cause multiple
casualties. BDLS will provide a comprehensive preparedness required to
manage the casualties resulting from the plethora of possible hazards.
This course meets the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration’s (OSHA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR 1910.120)
requirement for Hazardous Materials Awareness Level.
This course is offered in conjunction with RWJUH Departments of Emergency Preparedness and Trauma and Injury Prevention.
Prerequisites
The target audience for the course is physicians,
physician
assistants, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, allied health professionals,
public health professionals and veterinarians.
